Worship with Dance

Lo Ahavti Dai

The name "Lo Ahavti Dai" means "I have not loved enough". Its choreography is attributed to both Levi Yankale and Ya'acov Levy.

The entire dance is done facing into the circle.

Each numbered step takes four beats of music.

Part A

  1. {holding hands} Mayim L (starting with R foot crossing in front of left foot)
  2. {holding hands} Mayim L (starting with R foot crossing in front of left foot)
  3. {holding hands} Tcherkessia (optional: when R foot forward then hands are in front at waist level with palms up; when R foot is behind then hands turn over so palms are down)
  4. {holding hands} Tcherkessia (optional: when R foot forward then hands are in front at waist level with palms up; when R foot is behind then hands turn over so palms are down)
         [repeat]
Part B
  1. {not holding hands} Walk R-L-R into the center, then hop on R foot with a clap
  2. {not holding hands} Walk L-R-L back from the center, then hop on L foot with two quick claps
  3. {hands sway in front of body, crossing with a finger snap when legs are crossed} Leap to the right onto R foot and then bring L foot crossing in front R foot, repeat
  4. {arms neutral at side of body} Three-count turn over right shoulder (spin 360 degrees, clockwise as seen from above, R-L-R), then bring L foot beside R foot
         [repeat]
The standard "Lo Ahavti Dai" goes ABBABB, but for songs which alternate verse and chorus the pattern can be done ABAB...
