Arise and Jump
Arise and Jump was choreographed by Maggid David, originally for the song "Kumi Ori".
That song has a musicality that was crying out for its own dance.
Also, he wanted more dances with hopping!
Part A is done not holding hands. Part B is done holding hands.
Each numbered step takes four beats of music.
Part A
- (facing inward) {hands held high} Mayim L (starting with R foot crossing in front of left foot)
- (facing LLOD) Hop forward onto both feet, with hands still held high. Pause for a beat. Then hop backwards onto both feet, with hands behind the back. Pause again.
- (facing LLOD) {hands behind the back} Walk four steps R-L-R-L
- {hands relaxed at sides} Brush R foot in front of left foot, then continue the motion for one more by bringing the right foot around as you pivot on your left foot to face into the circle. Sway R, then pause with L foot very slightly off the ground.
[repeat "mirror image", reversing right and left]
Part B
- (facing inward) {Raise hands higher with each step} Walk four steps R-L-R-L
- (facing inward) {Hands at waist level} Hop backwards onto both feet, then pause. Again hop backwards onto both feet, then pause.
- (facing inward) {Hands at waist level} Mayim L (starting with R foot crossing in front of left foot)
- (facing inward) {Hands at waist level} Kick with R foot in front of left foot, then pause. Kick with L foot in front of right foot, then pause.
[repeat]
